It's not often I offer a Damascus Hunter for this price - guess I'm just in a good mood!
This is a fabulous Hunter-sized Damascus knife, made of 324 layers of 1095 and 15N20. I did a laddering process on the beautiful Random pattern steel, made here at Andersen Forge, and then hot-blued it for high contrast.
The take-down assembly includes stainless steel fittings, and a really fantastic chunk of Premium Desert Ironwood for the handle.
A wet-molded, heavy leather sheath completes the get-up-and-go.

The "Samurai Hunter"

This was an opportunity for me to do something just a little different - a slight deviation from the last year or so. I've made many of these in the past, but, it's just been a while and it was time to re-visit this knife.
Commonly known as the "Brute de Forge" - meaning "rough and unfinished" - and popularized by Joe Keeslar, Master Smith in the American Bladesmith Society.
I forged this blade from some large stock 1095 I have and gave the blade a selectively hardened character giving it the distinct hamon after etching and tediously hand-finishing.
The cord-wrapped handle protects a stingray skin under-lay.
You might be hard pressed to find another one like this one - anywhere!

What can I say? It just all came together on this one.
The Damascus came out better than I had hoped after I hot-blued it.
The stainless guard and take-down finial compliment the functionality and aesthetics of the knife like none other.
And the phenomenal stabilized crotch Walnut handle mated up with the other components to create an unbelievable ensemble for the discriminating Hunter Collector.
Could be the center piece of any collection - anywhere.

W1 Recurve Hunter

This is a not-often-used handle material that I was lucky enough to acquire at the Blade Show 2010 in Atlanta. As well, I have found that W1 makes a FANTASTIC! blade material. Properly done, it performs with the best of 'em, and can cut respectibly before sharpening again.
It also makes a great hamon!
This knife was made in my familiar take-down style.
Should offer the descriminating hunter many years of service.

The "Mesabi"

I forged this straight spined hunter out of W1 tool steel and gave it the selective hardening process to result in selective hardening.
This shows the historically effective hamon.
A really slick piece of Desert Ironwood sets off the take-down assembly.
Will be a real work horse and long-time outdoor companion.

This laddered random Damascus was made from 1095 and 15N20 and mated up to a stabilized block of really curly maple - it just dances in your hand!
Made with stainless steel take-down fittings and comes with a heavy leather sheath that should last a LIFETIME!!

I forged this blade from 1084 and 15N20 tool steels. The Damascus blade was manipulated into the classic "Ws" patterned and laddered to created the effect you see.
The take-down fittings are from twisted Damascus steel.
The sheath was created by Scott Teaaschner of Cody, Wyoming.
All set off by a fabulous piece of Desert Ironwood.

Twisted Stag

I forged this blade from a high layer count Twist Damascus.
The fittings are made from Crushed Ws Damascus and the handle is a really nice and straight piece of Sambar Stag.
All steel parts were hot-blued.
Internally are parts that can not be viewed and include a bolt and a bridge that firmly secure the handle to the threaded tang.
